The Sanford Emails: Working the phones

One of the regular tasks for Gov. Mark Sanford is burning up the phone lines to advance his agenda and connect with like-minded people.

Handling the General Assembly
Many members of the General Assembly are not friendly to Sanford and his policy proposals. But, between those and his hardcore supporters are those on the fence. And, letters, press releases and media appearances can’t do the job alone. On one day, he had 10 different legislators to get in touch with.

So, how do you get in touch with Howard Rich?
Sanford supporter and school choice funder Howard Rich is notoriously hard to talk to, unless you’re already friendly with him. We wish the Governor’s attorney had not redacted Rich’s number — there are endless amounts of people who would like to know the inside track.

Over that weekend, Sanford was also supposed to talk to former Ga. Gov. Zell Miller, Ethan Allen Institute director John McClaughry, ally Bob Faith of Graystar Real Estate Partners and Peter Pollak.
