Columbia cops don’t like your morning commute
The Columbia Police Department, per a brief in Friday’s The State, is eying you on your morning commute. If you’ve been on I-26 East going into downtown on a weekday morning, you’re lucky if you average 20 miles-per-hour. Apparently, that’s too fast for some residents (who — who complained about the morning commute?) who apprised the city of people driving too fast getting to work.
For the foreseeable future, the CPD will be staking out I-26E, I-126, S.C. 277, the Gervais Street and Blossom Street crossings from West Columbia and Cayce, I-77 and other places to make sure that you’re not being a road warrior while getting to work on time.
This is one of the many reasons we’re glad we live downtown.
