NRSC, DSCC had some fun with Halloween

hwadThe major party committees and election organizations have gotten into the habit of producing Web videos, which it seems that no one watches except for pols and journalists. That’s probably why we didn’t see these until weeks later. It looks like these guys are just chomping at the bit to really ramp up their efforts next year. But, before that, they joked around with a Halloween theme.

National Republican Senatorial Committee
Paranormal Taxivity
By far the best editing and production value of the two. It fails on message, though. National Republicans, for some bizarre reason, have a fixation on making every round of Congressional elections into a national campaign. Take the sights off President Barack Obama and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and put them on the candidates.

Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
The Scary Seven
The flipside of the NRSC work. This one needed more flash — it looked like a semi-pro effort from people who should have movie-grade equipment. The DSCC even used the “campaign photo in a box” trick in another ad. It wasn’t good, either. The message, however, is much better. By focusing on the candidates, in this case the entire GOP primary field, the idea of “Forget it, all these guys are fucking nuts,” puts the onus on where it should be — the opponent.
